Cybercafes Subang Jaya allowed to operate until 1am

THE closing time for cybercafes under the jurisdiction of the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) has been extended from midnight to 1am.
This was the latest directive announced by the MPSJ president Datuk Adnan Md Ikshan during the council’s full board meeting on Monday.
He said although the state government had proposed to increase the time for the operators until 3am, the council, however, had deliberated and agreed to 1am for a probation period of six months effective July 1.
Adnan said the 1am time was standardised for all cybercafes whether they were near colleges, higher institutions of learning, and residential areas.
“The new time is based on request from operators, whereby previously we only allowed them to operate until midnight,” said Adnan.
“We’ll carry out this new timing on a trial period to check on its effectiveness and also see if there are complaints from residents.
“Meanwhile, enforcement will still be carried out on those operating illegally as we has a quota on number of operators allowed,” he added.
